I’ve lived here in Sierra Vista for nearly 3 months, and never been to Garden Canyon on Fort Huachuca yet. So today I had a little bit of time to spare before work, so I took a quick drive up there.
I’m not so sure that this is going to be one of my regular stops, as it’s almost 8 miles off the main road to get to the upper picnic area where I’d probably start my hike. That being said, it looks like there might be some interesting reasons, beyond wildlife to take a walk up in the canyon …
The canyon itself is probably not a whole lot different than Ramsey or Huachuca, although I’ll know more once I actually spend a couple of hours up there. With little streams like this though, I’m sure there’s plenty of birds, butterflies, and other animals.
However, if I heed the warning signs I should probably try to make a few more hiking friends before I venture too far up this trail.
This was also where they’ve had a couple of wildfires just since I’ve been here.
